Piano Pinnacle (pianists Deborah Grimmett and Iman Habibi) performs a duo piano recital on Saturday, August 27th, 2011 at 8pm at the Roy Barnett Recital Hall, located at 6361, Memorial Road (UBC). All are invited to attend; admission is $20 for adults, and $10 for students and seniors.

Piano Pinnacle recently competed in the International Northwest Piano Ensemble Competition, where they won the Audience Choice Award and Third Prize. The duo has been selected as the only Canadian team to take part in the 15th Torneo Internazionale di Musica (2012) in Verona, Italy. The program for August 27th aptly encapsulates the duo’s dedication to the old and new music of the piano duo genre, and making it available and accessible to the public. The program includes pieces by Mozart, Arensky, Rachmaninoff, Brahms, as well as ten short pieces by Canadian composers, written specifically for this concert. Leading up to this concert, and in support of Canadian new music, Piano Pinnacle issued a call for scores, which inspired dozens of new, original compositions from across Canada. Ten of these new works were selected for performance at the concert on August 27th.
